The mass of the people, sometimes called the 'peasants', are usually exploited by this elite.

Sometimes the 'peasants' revolt, or appear to revolt.

When there were 'revolts' in Indonesia in 1998, the military ensured that it was certain Chinese-Indonesian 'middle men' who were made the scapegoats.

Indonesia's president Suharto had not been giving enough contracts to Americans.

In September 2000, the 'peasants' in Palestine revolted, in their intifada.

Ariel Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount seemed to be part of the plot to manipulate the 'peasants' into revolting.

Reportedly the Israeli plan is to find an excuse to eventually remove all Palestinians from Palestine.

The Romanian Peasants' Revolt took place in March 1907.

In Romania, the elite, who were the landowners, controlled most of the wealth.

The elite hired middle men, called arendaşi, a large number of whom were wealthy immigrant Jews.

These middle men ran much of the land.

When the peasants apparently revolted, the Jewish middle men appeared to bear much of the anger of the poor.

However, there is a view that the elite in the Austro-Hungarian empire conspired to cause the Peasant's Revolt in Romania, so that the Austro-Hungarian Empire could take Romania over.

The Jewish middle men were either scapegoats or part of the plot?

During World war II, Romanian troops were responsible for the persecution and massacre of 280,000 to 380,000 Jews inside and outside of Romania, though most Jews living within Romanian borders survived the Holocaust, albeit under harsh conditions.[2]

At first, the Zionists were not unfriendly with the fascist elite in Germany.

In 1933, the Zionist Federation of Germany sent a memorandum of support to the Nazi Party.

The World Zionist Organization Congress in 1933 defeated a resolution calling for action against Hitler by a vote of 240 to 43.

But, the fascist elite need scapegoats.

How do most people react when Chinese-Indonesians, or Palestinians, or Romanians or 'Jews' are being massacred?

How have people reacted to the massacres in Iraq, reportedly planned before the CIA and its friends reportedly carried out 9 11?

In 'Beyond Belief: Berliners and the Holocaust', we are told the following:

Towards the end of 1941, Berlin's Jews were told they were to be 'resettled' to labour camps.

In 2005 a study by Eric Johnson and Karl Heinz Reuband was published.

Nearly a thousand Berliners of the wartime generation were asked if they had ‘heard or knew about’ the Holocaust before the end of the Second World War.

28% said they had heard or known.

A few joined the resistance against Hitler.

Philipp von Boeselager, later a member of the resistance, heard news of the Holocaust from a fellow officer who had shared a train carriage with some drunken members of the SS.

These SS had boasted that they had murdered 250,000 Jews on the Eastern Front in 1941.

Wehrmacht lieutenant, Axel von dem Bussche, reportedly saw the killing of over 5,000 Jews at Dubno in the Ukraine in October 1941. He joined the resistance.

Of course, people in Nazi Germany were safer not asking questions about the fate of Jews.

Then there was the widespread belief in Germany that 'Jews' had controlled too many institutions and had caused many of Germany's problems. Jews were depicted as being 'inferior'.

Some Berliners tried to deny their 'Jewishness'.

Many Berliners, "out of complicity, ideology or fear did not want to know what was really going on."

There was "a profound belief in the fundamentally ‘civilised’ nature of the German state and society."

Holocaust survivor Primo Levi said that many Jews feared that, should they survive, their sufferings would not be believed.

Simon Wiesenthal hunted Nazis.

Austrian chancellor Bruno Kreisky alleged that Simon Wiesenthal had been a Gestapo collaborator. (Simon Wiesenthal guardian.co.uk)

In the UK Sunday Times, Guy Walters wrote of Wiesenthal (The head Nazi-hunter's trail of lies - Times Online):

"He was a liar ... There are so many inconsistencies between his three main memoirs and between those memoirs and contemporaneous documents, that it is impossible to establish a reliable narrative from them...

" He was at heart a showman and when he found a role as the world’s head Nazi hunter, he played it well. As with so many popular performances, it was impossible for the critics to tell the public that the Great Wiesenthal Show was little more than an illusion."
