1978 Volkswagen Beetle Jubilee with Only 40 Miles on the Odo up for Auction

If there’s one car that has withstood the test of time, that’s the original Volkswagen Beetle. And even though more than 21 million Bugs were built between 1938 and 2003, it’s not often that you stumble upon a pristine example with only delivery mileage on the odometer.

The one you see pictured above is a 1978 Beetle Jubilee with a mere 40 miles on the clock that has never been registered. It’s up for sale by UK-based CVA Auctions.

"It is a 1200cc silver Jubilee model with a silver plaque stating it's car number 214 of the last 300,” CVA Auctions boss Jim Ronan told uk.Autoblog. “It is in great condition as you would expect and we have all the relevant documentation should someone wish to put it on the road."

The auction house’s boss said that buyers from all over the world were interested in the car.

"I think it will go to a serious collector or maybe even a museum. In my opinion, registering it would devalue it. I'm really not sure what it will go for," he added.

Just Like the Real Thing: Lancia Stratos Replica with Thema 8.32 V8

The Lancia Stratos HF is the other Italian supercar of the 1970s. It may not be as well loved as some of the other greats – Lamborghini’s Countach, Ferrari’s Daytona or Maserati’s Khamsin – but it still holds a special place in many enthusiasts’ hearts. So it should come as no surprise that Stratos replicas are somewhat prevalent, especially in Europe.
The ebay seller assures us the work was carried out by professionals (isn’t it always?) and -as usual- the vehicle is going for a lot less than its original asking price. The car is said to be built by a Mr. Bates who provided the chassis to UK “repli-car” kit manufacturer Hawk Cars. Perhaps coincidently, Hawk Cars also makes a Lancia Stratos replica kit.
The previous owner and seller retrofitted this particular example with a Ferrari V8 sourced from a – get this – Lancia Thema 8.32. Remember the Thema 8.32? I certainly do. Frankly I’m glad they kept the engine and through away that hideous, boxy body. It’s also got the seats and steering wheel from a genuine Stratos to sweeten up the deal.
Unlike some of the cars we’ve featured on the site, this one is actually roadworthy and registered. It still has the usual sold-on-eBay niggles you’d expect like some worn synchromesh on second and an interior that’s in dire need of a little TLC. Still, for the low price of £25,000 (US$40,535) you get the car, a spare 8.32 V8 and transmission and a few little knickknacks including a 1:18 scale model and an original sales brochure. Choice!

It Came from eBay Hell: Toyota Celica-Based Ferrari F430 Replica

There are probably more Pontiac Fiero-based imitations in the world than real Ferraris. Today, though, we have something a little different. No, it is not a Pontiac Fiero-based Lamborghini Miura (we have already had one of them), it is a Toyota Celica that has been transformed into a passable F430 replica.

Did I say passable? Well, only just. From the front, it looks okay, with the hood, headlights and A-pillar being sufficiently F430-like. As you move back, however, it all starts to unwind. The awkward side window treatment, slab-sided rear flanks and the shape of the rear windscreen just seem wrong. Though you can’t expect much from trying to transform a front-engined, front wheel drive Japanese coupe in a mid engine, rear wheel drive Italian exotic.

Things only get worse inside; the interior is essentially stock seventh-gen Celica with stick on parts that are supposed to give the impression of a Ferrari interior. Suffice to say, it does not work. The seller is asking US$45,000 for a car that nominally pulls around $7,500 on the used market, a frankly ridiculous price. Would You Pay $29,875 for One of 500 US-Spec 2012 Fiat 500 Prima Ediziones?

In September of 2010, Fiat's U.S. arm announced that the special allotment of five hundred Fiat 500s to come to America, called the "Prima Edizione", were all sold out to the Italian firm's fans. Well, it seems that at least one of the buyers was more of a fan of the almighty dollar than anything else as the owner listed the collector-edition Fiat 500 Prima Edizione for sale on eBay as soon as it landed on the lot.

The specific model is finished in white (the other two available colors for this edition were red and grey) and comes with an optional sunroof. The car is located in Florida and the 'Buy it Now' price on eBay is a hefty $29,870, or about twice as much as the basic, non-special edition Fiat 500. We should note that the eBay seller has not uploaded any photos of the car that's said to be No35 out of the 500 built for America.
